Escape Room Aurum has won the Golden Lock Award. This award from Room Escape Artist is an international recognition for exceptional and innovative escape-room experiences that rank among the best in the world. Read the review and experience this spectacular escape room yourself.

Escape Room Aurum is a new kind of escape room experience. We spent three years working on it with one goal: to give you something truly unforgettable. Aurum has no combination locks and no puzzles of the kind you might be used to. It is all about working together. Every challenge is set up specifically for your group, based on the exact number of players.

Go back 150 years in time

Escape Room Aurum is set in the world of the Order of the Golden Dawna secret society that really existed and was founded in London in 1884. Its influential members established temples in various locations around the world. Little is known about the Order’s true goals, though rumour has it they were attempting to make gold.In the late 1930s, the Order disbanded and most temples were closed. No one knows whether they ever succeeded. Can you find out in 75 minutes?

Reviews Backspace Escape Rooms

The aesthetic throughout the game was a bulls-eye for my tastes, and rarely seen as well done as this experience. In learning how the game was configured after playing it, I was even more impressed with the engineering, artistry and craftsmanship.

Aurum is a really cool room! Set looks good, good use of light and sound, nice effects, story makes sense, top!
Persephone on EscapeTalk
The story, the experience, the beautifully integrated sets and varied puzzles are more than enough to leave even experienced escape teams filled with wonder. Absolutely recommended!
Gitske on EscapeTalk
A hidden gem... The room itself is full of special puzzles worked out in a fun and original way. The room itself is really focused on cooperation and communication. Fine room that may well be a bit higher in this ranking....
Elfeater on EscapeTalk
What a fat room! The room itself is really cool. The story and purpose are clear. The experience is really nice and the whole setting is to be enjoyed. There is also very good use of light and sound. At times a cinematic experience.
Najima
Fun, challenging, exciting and not obvious!

BackSpace Escape Rooms built an unusual game world, and filled it with nifty interactions that we were delighted to share with one another. Aurum: Order of Gold was a mechanics-forward game with an undercurrent of narrative, and it came together in a well-executed package. I highly recommend playing this game if you're in Amsterdam.

Beautiful design and surprising technical effects. Challenging puzzles where every type of player is catered for, the puzzler, the finder, the smarter, the correlator etc.

Frequently asked questions

You will find our most frequently asked questions below. Feel free to call us if yours is not listed: 020 - 7373126.

Aurum is different from our other escape rooms. The challenges are not the typical puzzle-solving kind. There is nothing hidden around the room and there are no combination locks. Aurum is all about the group. You genuinely have to work together to get through every challenge. If that sounds like your kind of experience, book it!

Absolutely! If your group loves escape rooms with atmosphere, strong storytelling and striking effects, and you enjoy working together, you will love Aurum. We can promise there will be something in this room that you have never seen or experienced before. Book now and find out for yourselves.

Aurum is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. For anyone with limited mobility, please be aware that parts of the room can be quite dark, and there are some steps and raised doorways to navigate.

Aurum is played with exactly 3, 4 or 5 players. The challenges are adapted to your exact group size, so unfortunately we cannot accommodate more or fewer players than this.

Aurum is not a horror room. It can be intense at times, but not scary. After booking, you will receive a link to our Aurum FAQ, where you can choose whether you want to know more about what to expect in advance. That way everyone can enjoy the experience at their own comfort level.

Aurum lasts approximately 75 minutes.

Aurum is for players aged 18 and above. It is not a horror room, but some moments may be too intense for younger players. This escape room is for adults only.
